Community Engagement

As well as supporting people living with sight loss, we also help to raise awareness in our community and beyond.

Sight loss awareness training

We offer sight loss awareness training to a wide range of organisations, to help them to better support their employees, customers and communities. Our courses offer:

  • An understanding of the most common eye conditions
  • Experience of sight loss using simulation specs
  • Guidance on how to identify and help a person with sight loss
  • Examples of assistive equipment
  • Preventative measures to maintain eye health

Email pmoodie@beaconvision.org to find out more.

Beacon bus

The Beacon Bus is a dedicated bus that tours the Black Country and Staffordshire to help our communities find out more information about eye health.

People who hop on board will be able to find out more about the work of the Centre, based in Sedgley, as well as learning how they can improve their eye health and how sight loss issues could affect them in the future.

To request the Beacon Bus at your event, contact Pete on 01902 880 111 or via email at pmoodie@beaconvision.org

Beacon lunch club

At the Beacon Centre, we welcome social groups and businesses to join us for a lunch club and find out more about sight loss in their community.

Charged at a small fee, the lunch club includes a guided tour of the Beacon Centre, a sight awareness talk and lunch in our restaurant.

Email fundraising@beaconvision.org to book.
