Beacon Strategy 2025- 2030

Bigger, Bolder, Brighter

At Beacon, we’re proud to share our new strategy for 2025–2030. As we celebrate 150 years of supporting people with sight loss, this plan sets out the next steps on our journey, helping to shape a brighter, more inclusive future.

This strategy is about more than goals and targets; it’s a clear guide for how we’ll continue to make a real difference to the lives of blind and partially sighted people across the Black Country and South Staffordshire.

Why a strategy matters

A strategy helps us stay focused. It makes sure every decision we make supports our mission: to help people with sight loss live independent, confident and fulfilling lives. It sets out what we want to achieve, how we’ll get there and how we’ll know it’s working.

What’s in the plan?

It focuses on four key areas, which are:

  • Eye health as a priority for all
  • Accessible Health Pathways
  • Inclusivity for All
  • A system for our communities

Each priority includes clear actions and measures, so we can track progress and stay on course.

We’ve listened closely to people with lived experience of sight loss — including many of our own staff and volunteers — to help shape the plan. Their voices are at the heart of everything we do.

Accessibility for all

We’ve made our strategy available in a range of accessible formats to ensure everyone can engage with it.
You can access:

  • A PDF version
  • A text only version – Word Document
  • A braille version
  • An audio version

The PDF, text only and audio versions can be downloaded below, you can get a copy of our braille version by contacting us directly.
