Lifestyle Centre

At the Beacon Centre, we understand how daunting it can be to leave the house when living with sight loss.

From not having reliable transport to worries about navigating unfamiliar places, or even wondering if there will be someone to assist you, it’s not always easy to step out into the world. That’s why we’ve created a welcoming and accessible space at our adapted Lifestyle Centre in Sedgley, where you can feel comfortable and supported.

We offer hundreds of sessions throughout the year, designed to suit a wide range of interests. Whether you’re into pottery, playing pool, or exploring something new, there’s something here for everyone. At Beacon, we’re not just a centre, we’re a community, ready to help you enjoy life to the fullest.

Arts & Crafts

For those who enjoy arts and crafts, we offer weekly tactile craft sessions that are perfect for rediscovering your creativity despite sight loss.

Pottery is a firm favourite, and with our on-site kiln, you can bring your creations to life in a relaxed, informal setting where you can also chat with others living with a visual impairment.

Cooking

If cooking is your passion or something you want to regain confidence in, our sight-friendly cookery sessions are here to help.

In our specially adapted kitchen, you can start with the basics like making a cup of tea or work your way up to preparing full meals for you or your family.

Keep Fit!

Fitness is for everyone, and our adapted gym is equipped to help you build strength and confidence at any age, with personalised exercise programmes tailored to your needs.

And that’s not all!

We also offer a variety of other activities, including film afternoons with audio descriptions, quizzes, pool, gaming, and a quiet space for reflection.
