Get Involved
We help people living with sight loss to get the most out of life. From supporting our members with transport, housing and employment, to providing them with advice and helping them feel more connected with their community, our services are multi-faceted to support each individual in the way that suits them best.
The work we do changes lives every day, but providing high -quality, varied support all comes at a cost. Running the Beacon Centre for a year costs over £1.2 million, and with the devastating losses we incurred during the pandemic, combined with the increasing cost of living, we need your help now more than ever.
We know that times are tough for everyone right now, so we offer a wide range of ways to donate. Whether you’d like to give a one-off donation, donate regularly, contribute through a Give As You Earn scheme or get involved in fundraising, any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for helping us to make a difference!

Legacies & In-Memory
Leave a legacy
We’re passionate about supporting those with sight loss to live life to the full, but we need support to help make this possible. Leaving a gift in your will can help us to keep changing lives.
Why leave a legacy?
Leaving a gift to charity is a wonderful way to ensure the causes you care about have the support they need, even after you’re gone. It will give hope to those who need it, as well as bringing comfort to loved ones who’ll be able to see the continued impact of your donation.
In practical terms, a gift to charity in your will can also reduce Inheritance Tax, which could helpy our loved ones as well as the causes you care about.
Why Beacon?
Living with sight loss can be frightening and overwhelming, leaving many people feeling isolated and detached from the lives they want to lead. That’s where we come in. We provide the right support to help our members adapt, regain their independence and achieve their ambitions. Our work really is life-changing, and by leaving a gift in your will, you can help to ensure that this support is there for generations to come.
When is the right time to make a will?
If you haven’t made a will yet, the right time is now! The future is unpredictable, and this is the best way to make sure those you love and the causes close to your heart are taken care of after you’re gone. To get started, first find a solicitor, who can talk you through each step of outlining your wishes, or updating your will if your wishes have changed.
Honouring a loved one in-memory
Celebrate the life of someone special by supporting Beacon in their memory is a meaningful tribute. It’s a way to celebrate their life by making a positive impact on the lives of those dealing with sight loss. Your in-memory donation not only honors their legacy but also offers invaluable support to our members as they navigate the challenges of visual impairment. This act of remembrance ensures their spirit continues to inspire and make a difference in the world.
