We’re so fortunate to have almost 200 volunteers giving their time to help others at Beacon.

Together, they complete around 20,000 hours of volunteering each year across a variety of roles from telephone befriending and helping out in our shops to supporting people in our lifestyle centre or assisting at our events.

We so appreciate all they do and one of the ways we showcase their amazing achievements is through our annual Volunteer Awards.

This shows Chris who is wearing blue jeans and a black polo t-shirt holding his award. You can see some of the Beacon centre in the background, he's stood on the first floor of the building next to a railing which looks down onto the ground floor.

New Volunteer Award

Tina Maguire

Tina helps out at a number of our community activities including walks and our Beacon Book Club. She is encouraging, positive, engaging, honest, open and friendly and treats everyone the same. She even helped one of our members to train and successfully complete our recent Family Fun Colour Run.

Outstanding Contribution Award

Margaret Carter

Margaret volunteers in our Halesowen shop and has been described as a credit to the team and a wonderful person to represent Beacon. She is happy to volunteer in the shop at weekends and is eager to get involved in everything recently expanding her skill set to use the till.

Dedication Award

Angie Burton

The winner of our dedication award is befriender Angie Burton. She supports a number of people, reporting back each week on how they are doing and whether there is any additional support they need. She does all this despite having a full-time job and is happy to assist with anything we ask of her.

Pat Smith

In addition to our award winners, Pat Smith was also celebrated as our longest-serving volunteer. Pat has been supporting our Bilston shop in her role since 1994!

To mark her incredible achievement we presented her with some cakes to say a special thank you from everyone here at Beacon.

She said she loves her role as it is a chance to meet new people and make a difference for others.
