Shoppers can flip their way to a free pancake in a unique challenge being run by the Black Country’s leading sight loss charity in Halesowen.
Staff and volunteers from the Beacon Centre’s Reflections coffee lounge in Hagley Street will be challenging customers to put their flipping skills to the test in a blindfolded competition.
Anyone who can flip a special pancake at least eight times in a minute with the blindfold on will be able to tuck into a free lemon and sugar one served up by the coffee lounge to celebrate their success.
The challenge, which will be completed using special rubber ‘pancakes,’ to give people a little helping hand, will take place on February 28th at the site which also houses a charity shop.
Beacon Centre Halesowen coffee shop assistant Jane Clark said: “Everyone loves pancakes so we thought this event would be a great opportunity to combine a tasty snack with a message about how important it is to look after your eyes.”
On the day the Beacon bus, which tours the region delivering sight loss information and advice will also be at the site for anyone who wants to find out more about eye conditions, looking after your sight or even volunteering with the charity.
For those who are defeated by the challenge on the day they will still be able to tuck into a tasty pancake with toppings including syrups, fruit and cream, which are being sold to help boost the charity’s fundraising efforts.
